What does the "Member Of" tab display in the security panel?
The Member Of tab displays any parent groups to which the selected security group belongs. This provides insight into the group hierarchy and clarifies how permissions are inherited from higher-level groups, ensuring that the relationships between groups are clearly understood.
What is a security group and what is its purpose?
A security group is a collection of users that is used to manage system access and permissions in a structured manner. It is used to control access to areas such as the system, user interface, development environment, and other modules. By grouping users, permissions can be assigned and managed collectively, ensuring that only authorized users can access specific functionalities.
Why must critical permissions be set to Allow?
It is necessary for critical permissions such as System, User Interface, and Document Management System to be set to Allow to ensure that users can log in and access the system resources properly. These settings enable the system to enforce security while guaranteeing access for authorized personnel.
How are permissions inherited within security groups?
Permissions assigned to a security group may be inherited from parent groups or default groups such as the Everyone group. Inherited permissions ensure that a new user receives the predefined access rights automatically if they belong to these groups. The relationships between groups are clearly reflected in the Member Of tab.
How are new users assigned to security groups?
New users are automatically added to the default Everyone group. This group�s preconfigured permissions are inherited by the new users, ensuring that baseline access is provided while further custom permissions may be applied through additional group member
